BIRTHDAY PARTY*. 4 By* Press Correspondent.) A very* gratifying number was present at the filth birthday party of the Alakoniako Women’s Institute. The hall had been specialy* decorated by* lumbers with the Institute colours (pink and green), while large bowls of shrubs and greenery ornamented the walls. Tile party took the form of a concert and dance, the concert items being as fellows:— Songs and duet-* by* Misses 1). Junker and E. Chatwin and Air Tru-< ott play by members of the Hnkanui Wis men's Institute, play by members of the Alakoniako Women's Institute, musical monologue by* Aliss Booth. Miss Hampton acted as accompanist for the evening. A delicious and bountiful -upper was served, and the birthday cake, make by Mis Eising, and iced by Mrs Eddie, was then cut by tin- president. Airs Eising. the five candles being lit by* the vice-presidents. Airs Day* and Airs Eddie. Alr> lasing was presented with a beautiful posy Heesias. Birthday greetings wore conveyed by members of neighbouring Institutes.

Dance music was supplied by Afrs A. Tait. Air Eddie proving himself a very* efficient M.C. A Monte C arl > waltz was won by Airs Houlhrooke and Air L. So wry. while the Luckv Gay Gordons were won by Air H. Gorki 11 and partner. Extras were kindly played by Aliss Day and Al ss Sown* and Air H. Garlick. SOCIAL.

Airs L Hughes, of Marinin, w:u a recent visitor to Wellington. Aliss Creagh. of Ormondville. spent the week-end with her sister. Airs AY. Eising, Alakomako.
