Hornabrook, who has been in the front rank of New Zealand golf for the* |last four years, became amateur champion of the Dominion for the first time when he defeated B. M. Silk (Hutt), last year’s holder of the title, by 5 up and 4 to go in the final over 36 holes on the Shirley links at Christchurch on Saturday, WOMEN’S MATCH. Large galleries followed the Britisli ancl New Zealand women’s teams in their international golf match on Saturday oil the Miramar club goi f course. The day was fine, but a stiff north-westerly taxed the skill of the players to control their shots. On the day’s play the British women showed a definite superiority. They won one of the two foursomes played, the other finishing all square, and won three of the four singles. The golf, having regard to the difficult condi-
