JACK DOYLE SAYS--

EMULATING MAX BAER. Jack Boyle. Irish boxer and singer, hurled this challenge at tiie world’s heavy-weight champion on February 23 while he nibbled a late breakfast in his hotel at Hollywood: ‘'l will meet Max Baer either in the .ring or at a game of hearts, and I'll beat him at both. I ‘l will be ready to take Baer on in about a year from now,” lies continued, “and poor old Max will neve r know wh; # hit him. “For that matter, I'd light the whole Baer family.” During the eight weeks that Doyle will spend getting acclimatised to California—and getting energetic e-no lgh id take breakfast before noon—he intends to accept “fabulous” offeirs alleged to nave been made by the film kings. “1 should be foolish not to accept them,”* he said.

'I am willing to play leading roles opposite any of the girls here.” Doyle shrugged his shoulders added: “Dietrich, Joan Crawford, Anna Sten, any of them—it doesn’t make any difference to me. “I love American women. The sweetest little girl J have ever met is Judith Allen. I’ve seen her several times. 1 must admit, however, that I admire girls of the Carole Lombard type-—tall, beautiful, graceful. “But this movie business isn’t really serious. My life’s dream is to win the world’s title that old Master Jack Dempsey held, and I can take that title from Baer.

“T shall return to 1 Ireland with the championship eighteen months from to-dav.”

And Jack Doyle went back to sleep.
