GOLF NOTES.
LADDER POSITIONS. The third and final qualifying round for ladder positions was played on the Pahiatua golf links last week end. The perfect weather which prevailed apparently contributed to good scoring as no fewer than nine players returned net scores ranging from one to six below par for the course. This is very encouraging and indicates that there is a general improvement in the standard of golf in this district. J. G. Swain son easily retains top ,position oil the ladder being nine strokes better than his nearest rival. The following are the scores returned in the qualifying rounds:—J. G. Swainson 160, J. A medal competition played in ..on. junction with the last ’ qualifying round was wen by J. O’Sullivan with a net 64. J. Richardson, who is alsc playing very well, was runner-up with a not 67.
