“SPLENDID FELLOWS”

GREAT AIR RACE EPIC. All the ( teeming thrills of the world-famous Centenary air race have been “captured” by tile magic of the sound camera arid presented on tha screen with added intensity in Beaumont Smith? s all-Australian romance of youth, courage and adventure, which comes to the King’s Theatre on Thursday. Air Smith showed remarkable foresight in selecting this intriguing subject _as the basis of his ne\v production. He had the story written—and what a great story it is—and Ine picture almost finished before the epic tuir race took place. Naturally he had to wait on the race itself in order to shoot authentic scenes of the progress and finish. As soon as these were obtained “Splendid Fellows” was completed and a thrill-laden nil-Australian super attraction proudly presented to the world. Really, there is no other way to describe “Splendid Fellows.” The story is crammed full of action, and moves at a terrifically fast pace throughout. Genuine thrills follow in the course of the race with the development of a smashing climax, when the two Englishmen right out m front, receive a shattering blow m the news that the “Flying Padre” and “Blind Teddy,” another “Splendid Fellow, are lost somewhere in Central Australia. It would he uniair to you to further divulge the magnificent finish to such an enthralling dramatic story. Eric Colman, brother to the famous Ronald is the “Flying Padre,” and if you know of anyone more fitted for the role, well, he must be good • Frank Leighton, Leo Franklyn, Isabelle Mahon and Frank Bradlev are also prominent ir. an extremely competent cast.

Brilliant featurettes include Graham MeNamee News, Pathe Pio-tor-al. Snow Thnills (sporting) and “ ’Tis Spring” (a novelty featnrette in colour).
