MAY BALL.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A full meeting of tile above ball committee was held this week in further preparation for the ball to be held on 31st May. The secretary (Mr C. E. B. Irving) reported that he had been in communication with Palmerston North and discovered that the Golf Ball was to be held oveir there on 24th inst., the date previously arranged for the May Ball. Consequently he had put forward the latter function a week in order that Gedson’s Band would be available. The meeting endorsed the secretary's action, the 31st being generally considered a better date. The supper arrangements, in the hands of a large ladies 1 ’ committee, were reported to be progressing splendidly. In fact, many ventured to predict that the supper would be even more abundant than last year. The secretary stated that he had been telephoned by Mr It. J. Wade, who had once again very generously offered to donate all the milk and cream required. Mr W. L. Tattle remarked that this ivas the third occasion on which Mr Wade had donated the milk and cream and that the committee were extremely grateful to him
Gedson’s Band was reported to be playing outstanding music this year, and patrons could be assured of an enjoyable night’s dancing. Another meeting of the committee is called for Thursday, 23rd May, when final arrangements will be made. The whole of the committee is brimful of enthusiasm and is looking forward with confidence to a successful function and a night of joy.
