At Huntville, Texas, Hamilton, the last man to bear the title “Pub lie Enemy No. 1“ was executed in the electric chair. Four others were | executed at the same hour, cancelling | a. long scries of crime and marking the end qf the Barrow-Hamilton and two other gangs Hamilton had accumulated sentences totalling, 363 years for crimes committed before lie was 21 and died specifically for shooting Major Crowson, the prison guard, during the gaol delivery in January 1934, alleged to have been engineer by the late Clvde Barrow Joe Palmer, who shot his wav out with Hamilton, died with him today. Both last week were baptised by the Catholic Church. 'Three other bandits. Corner, Thielen and Hoff, were executed after the fourth member of their gang committed suicide. They killed a hank cashier and shot dead two sheriffs who intervened in their flight next day The five executions occupied 17 minutes.
