FAMOUS POLISH DICTATOR. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copvnghi WAKSAIV, May 12. Obituary: Joseph Clemens Pilsudski, First Marshal of Poland and Inspector-General of Polish Armed Forces and Minister of War since 4926. General Rydz-Smigly has been appointed to succeed Marshal Pilsudski, who died of kidney trouble, from which he had been suffering for several months. General Rydz-SmigT.v is popular with the army, and was one of the best-trusted of Marshal Pilsudskis ! assistants. General Edward Rydz-Smigly, Inspector of the Polish Army. was born in 18S6. He served in Marshal Pilsudski’s Polish Legions during the Great War, and was appointed an Army Commander in 1920. VICTIM OF CANCER. WARSAW, May 13. The doctors state that Pilsudski’s death was due to cancer of the liver. Members of the Government, with his wife and two daughters, wore at the bedsiide when he passed awav. General Kasrz.vski has been appointed to Pilsudski’s other office, the Ministry of War.
