STILL A SHORTAGE.
SECOND EDITION
TOWN WATER SUPPLY. FLOW DIMINISHING. The problem of the town water supply Is stfll apparently not successfully solved. We were informed this morning by the Town Clerk (Mr L. D. Lovelock) that owing to the continued dry spell the springs leading into the reservoir on the Balfour Estate are diminishing. The flow there now is very small. But what is even more disquieting is the fact that the inflow at the Borough weH on the main road at Konini is also decreasing and as a consequence the supplementary supply is not nearly so effective as hoped for. It appears that with the pump operating during its full working time each night (a little under five hours) it is not sufficient to fill the reservoir by morning as was originally the case. The pressure in the town mains at 9 a.m. this morning, for instance was orgy about 45 lbs. In view of this shortage the Borough cannot see its way to lift the restrictions formerly imposed on the use of water for other than household purposes. The works committee meets to-day to fully discuss the position.
