MAKOMAKO NEWS.
(By a Correspondent.) A heavy thunder storm visited the district about a week ago and drenching rain commenced to fall in the southern end at about 5.30 p.in., lasting for nearly ail hour, when the force of rain abated and light showers continued on into the night. An unusual phenomenon in connection with this storm was that within two miles, residents in the northern end of the district watched amid sweltering heat, until about (5 p.m. before the cooling raindrops began to fall on them.
Mrs R. F. Gregory is at present on a visit to the capital city where *»h© is tin l guest of her mother, Mrs V. Recce.
Mrs W. G. Eising, accompanied by her small son, left on Wednesday for the South Island, where they will visit relatives in Brunnerton, West Coast.
Miss McFadden has resumed duties at the school after an enjoyable vacation spent visiting Gisborne and Waikaremoana.
Airs V . Day was a visitor to Wellington last week.
