STAGGERING STATEMENT.

KING ALBERT’S DEATH. ‘WAS TAPPED OX THE HEAD.” (Received 11.30 a.m.) United Press Asm.-—By Electric Telegraph—Copvright. LONDON, Aln.y 6. “King Albert did not meet his death by an accidental fall, but was ‘tapped on the back of the bead'.” declared Air Graham Hutchinson. author and publicist, in an address at the Nottingham Writers' Club. He added : “The story of the King’s death was issued in Belgium before lie died. A man w ith a rope around his waist does not go climbing by himself. His body and hands were not bruised. The facts are that the King would not participate in the devilry, of France conspiring for war against a defenceless Germany." Interviewed subsequently Air Hutchinson declared that he' possessed documentary and circumstantial evidence that King Albert was tapped on the back of the head as Belgian people well know. The Secretary for the Belgian Embassy, commenting on Air Hutchinson’s statement, said: “It is a horrible lie that decent-minded people throughout the, world will treat with contempt. Tf Air Hutchinson will come to the Embassy and repeat ,liis statement I shall punch him on the jaw.” The statement was received with disgust in Brussels. It is stated it does not bear scrutiny. King Albert always used a rope when (limbing alone. There was gruesome proof that his head was struck by a rock. 4he tdpinist, Count de Grunne, who organised the search party', says the official account of the circumstances of the King’s death can be indisputably confirmed by facts and photographs Air Huthinson declined a further statement in view of the Belgian Embassy’s denial.
