MOTOR ACCIDENT.
LORRY CAPSIZES. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A motor lorry owned by Mrs E. "W. Hopcroft, Pongaroa, and driven bv one of her employees, H. Maimer, capsized over a bank at Pukeninau on Monday, and was considerably damaged. ‘ The driver escaped with a shaking and bruises. The motor lorry was endeavouring to pass a car on a sharp corner near Mrs B. Souness’ residence. FORESTERS ’BALL. The annual Foresters’ Ball, which is always a popular fixture, was held in the Town Hall on Easter Monday. The hall was not large enough to accommodate the number ot dancers who attended and floor space was at a premium. The Blue River Dance Band of Masterton provided spirited music which kept the crowd in a lively mood until nearly four o’clock on Tuesday morning. A delicious supper was provided by a committee of ladies, who had a big task in catering ior the large crowd. Mr C. Churchhouse acted as M.C. SOCIAL ITEMS. Mr J. D. Gupwell, of Maku, Pongaroa, is at present an inmate of the local hospital. The local Golf Club will hold its opening day in Saturdav next, when the new course will l,c used.
