The Pahiatua Herald. PUBLISHED EVERY EVENING SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 1934. TOWN PLANNING EXHIBITION.
A town planning exhibition is to be held at Christchurch from February 16th to 23rd, and the promoters have gone to considerable trouble in order to make the exhibition interesting. I 11,, display will prove a good advertisement for cities and towns displaying good views of their scenic attractions, resorts, principal thoroughfares, etc. Visitors will obtain an idea of the various methods of town planning and draw their own conclusions accordingly. Photographs will be exhibited showing the development of towns. The exhibition is one which should appeal to Pahiatua, and an effort- sould be made if possible to have the Borough represented. This town is singular in its appearance, and visitors have frequently made very favourable comment upon the impression it gives. The spacious main street with its picturesque garden squares makes an appeal uncommon to most other municipalities In the Dominion. If a series of old and new views could be obtained for exhibition, the comparison would be very marked. Such a display would bring the district into greater prominence among the people in. the South Island. 51a ny of them would undoubtedly be very agreeably surprised that we possess such pleasant surroundings. A TTst of the scenic resorts could also be compiled and also those of the numerous social institutions available to the public. As the exhibition will probably be attended by thousands of people, the opportunity is one that Pahiatua should not miss
