Tin's Day. _At the time in addition to Mrs Eraser there were a daughter, aged 16, a son, aged 8, a. porter and another man believed to have been a boarder. All indications point to a shockingly cold-blooded' crime. With Supt. Cummings in charge oi' investigations are Inspector Cam■eron, Sub-Inspector Edwards, and most of the members of the detective staff. All the grounds are being searched and closely guarded. The nearest house is 200 yards away. and neighbours heard no noises during the night. The late Air Eraser some years ago was employed in various capacities on the West Coast, once as a railway cleaner, then in drapery businesses at Hokitika and Greymouth. For some time while in Christchurch he had a drapery business in High Street, then entered the hotel trade. He was a keen sporting and Rugby enthusiast fetid owned the racehorse Silver Ring. While on the Coast he, played football for the Star Club. Greymouth. His wife was formerly Aliss Walton, of Greymouth, whose brother on receipt of the news flow to-day from Greymouth to Christchurch. Airs Fraser heard and saw nothing until after the crime had been committed. The household were awakened by the sound of" an - explosion and almost immediately the police were informed. Dr. Pearson, Pathologist at Christchurch Hospital, conducted a preliminary examination of the body this morning prior to its removal to the morgue for post, mortem. Friends of Fraser say be was scrupulously fair and honest and had apparently no enemies The bedroom he occupied was his usual room and it is not considered possible for any mistake, to have been made by the murderer in the choice of a victim.
