OPENING OF PARLIAMENT.

After a- recess extending over 2S weeks, members of the House of Representatives and the Legislative C ouncil will assemble to-morrow afternoon for this year’s session of Parliament. Tlie Government's legislative programme is a fairly substantial one. although a number ot tin measures it is hoped to deal with are of an. amending nature. One of the first Bills to be introduced will be the Companies Bill. This measure is based on the recent. English Act with modifications to meet New Zealand conditions and circumstam-es. Probably the most important- measure ->f tho session will be tlx Re-, rv. Bank of New Zealand Bill, read a firs and circulated last session. Although a few amendments are likely, this season'- Bill i- not expected to Jitter very substantially from its predecesior.
