Dollfuss has weakened tis the result of yesterday’s open challenges from powerful groups led by Starhemberg and Winkler, Vice-Chancellor respectively, which have nothing in common except opposition to the Nazis and Socialists, but which demand that the Chancellor incorporate their creeds in the new constitution. Meanwhile the Austrian Nazis are jubilantly watching the disputes. Starhemberg emphasises that I )(>llfuss will receive Heimwebr, that is Eascist support, only if he establishes a Fascist State on Italian lines, and says it is essential there should he a clean-out of Cabinet. Winkler, while expressing; loyalty to Dollfuss. declines to merge his own organisation in the Chancellors ‘Fatherland front.”
