THE POWERS OF SEQUAH.

REMARKABLE DEMONSTRATION. CURE FOR RHEUMATISM. The visit to Pahiatua of Sequah, -the world-famed health specialist, which has aroused such great interest, has attracted the attention of sufferers to a new form of treatment attended, by remarkable results. In the King’s Theatre last evening upwards of 100 people, of all ages and of both sexes, many suffering from various complaints, listened with rapt attention to a very compelling discourse by Sequah and witnessed also a most impressive demonstration on a well-known aged Pahiatua resident, who for years has been a victim of an acute form of rheumatism. The outcome of Sequah’s remedies as applied to this man (old as he is) was little short of amazing. His object, said Sequah at the outset, was to explain his mission of health and give an ocular demonstration of his work w ln detailing his travels extending over the past forty years he mentioned that he had just spoken to a Pahiatua lady who remembered seeing him in Penarth. Wales, over 40 years ago. pThe lecturer confessed that on his next birthday he would be 68 years of age (though he did not look it by any means). He had toured three times" right throughout the Dominions. In every town in every country he had earned the verdict, the goodwill and the respect of the people. He had cured all sorts and conditions. Yet lie did not pretend to be a miracle worker, a faith healer or a magician. His medicines —Sequah’ s medicine and Sequah’s oils—were simply one of nature’s products that he claimed were beneficial for certain ailments to which human beings were subject. Any subject on whom he demonstrated he did not propose to cure in one Slight, but he did undertake to bring evident relief.

The subject for the evening’s demonstration was Mr W. Mcßratney, who said he had lived here for 35 years and was subject to pain and inflammation of the sciatic nerve. It had later turned to arthritis in the knees and he had had to use a stick for years. In fact his stick was his best friend. The demonstrator explained the various forms or rheumatism which, lie said, were due to an excess of uric acid in the blood. His medicine acted so beneficially by simply eliminating this uric acid.

With the patient partially screened trom the view of the expectant audience. Sequah then carried out a course of gentle application with his oils.

The treatment ended, a voice called: “Get up, Mack.” “I’m feeling better,” answered the patient. He’ll be riding in Hie next 1 Pahiatua Cup,” remarked a wag. Sequah said it would not be prudent or wise to ask the patient to rise immediately and put pressure on his limbs so" they would wait a short while to let the oils take proper effect. In the meantime he would talk upon the therapeutic value of his remedies and deal with the ailments or the body caused through excess ol uric acid. fcHe explained in detail the cause of rheumatism. Sixty per cent, of it, he said, could be traced to indigestion, the latter being due to an acidity of the stomach. In fact indigestion or dyspepsia was the parent of a very large family of troubles. Nerve troubles followed, then neuritis, rheumatism. His remedies were made from one of nature's vegetable compounds. They acted as a gentle, mild aperient, as safe for the infantas tho adult, equally effective for blood trouble and skin diseases. He mentioned how to prevent the accumulation of acid by attention to diet. He. told of many interesting incidents of Ins travels in practically every part of the world and the wonderful cures he had effected. Sequah turned his attention then "to his patient sitting contentedly on the platform. This local citizen, he explained, was a sufferer from arthritis in the knees, one foot and the ankles. On such an aged man it was natural, that the same effects would not be forthcoming as if he were younger because no matter how effective his remedies Sequah could .•not restore the bloom of youth. ‘ Have you any pain now in the knees?” he asked the patient. “No, I haven’t,” replied Mr McBratney. Sequah said that for a while there would be a little stiffness in the knees but that would quickly wear °ff- The patient then stood up and ranch to his own amazement and certainly that of the audience he found lie could walk about much more freely and not even need the walking stick that hitherto has aibeen in his hand. He stepped about the stage almost briskly, down the steps off the platform and np again unaided. It was a phenomenal transformation and a fittmg climax to an address and demonstration of absorbing interest. Sequah explained that he would be remaining in Pahiatua until next Saturday and would be? at the Commercial Hotel (the private sittingroom) from 10 a .in. to 12 noon and from 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. every day this week including Saturday.
