RUSSIAN UESPOTISM.
PROFESSOR A VICTIM.
AN EXPLANATION. (Received 10.35 a.m.) United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, September 17. Professor Einstein, in a letter to the newspapers, says: “Lake other intellectuals who feel it a duty to serve the cause of human progress, I have been the victim of misunderstanding in regard to the true objects of certain organisations, which are really only camouflaged propaganda in the service of Russian despotism. In ignorance of the true purpose, I allowed the workers of the International and anti-war movement to use my name, but I never favoured Communism. My opinion is that any power must be the enemy of mankind, which enslaves an individual by terror, whether under the Fascist or the Communist flag. All that is valuable to human society depends upon the opportunity for development accorded the individual.”
