WOMEN'S INSTITUTE.

The August meeting of the Hukanui Women’s Institute was held in the Hukanui Hall, Mrs It. A. Harrington presiding. The competition tor an article made from one flour bag brought forth a number of entries. Mrs C. R. Eddie was placed first in this competition with a tray cloth, Mrs Harrington second with a duchess runner, while Mrs E. R. Daldv and Yliss B. Harrington tied tor third place. Mrs L. Wenham gave an interesting demonstration on renovating old vases. Several items were rendered during the afternoon and were greatly appreciated. Afternoon tea was served bv the hostesses, Mrs YV. O. Leith, '{ rs Ueinborg and Miss D. Leith -Urs U . Twenty-man presided at the piano.
