FOOTBALL CLUB FUNCTION.
BALLANCE BREEZES. (From Our Own Correspondent.) There was a very large attendance at the Balia nee Football Club's social and dance in the hall on Wednesday evening, the function being the best j yet held by the club. Many visitors were present from PalmeVston North, Shannon, Rongotea. Mangatainoka, Makuri, Kohintii, Ngaturi, Tatie, Pahiatua. Konini. Hukamii, and also Makomako and Mangahao. Several football clubs were lepresented. The music by Godson’s Aces (Palmerston North) was very good. Extras were supplied by Mrs Tait and Miss D. Day. The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss E. Croad and Mr Priest. A streamer and confetti dance added to the enjoyment. The Al’sC. were Messrs J. ivlahunga and H. Bengston. The programme included several old-time dances. The oeeo rations were a special feature, being in the Club’s colours, blue and gold. A big blue and gold bell was suspended front the centre of the ceiling, while Hie stage was also tastefully decorated with streamers and native greenery. A very fine supper was partaken of, it being supplied, by Mr East. The. members of the club attended to the supper arrangements, and were as successful! in this task a.s they were on the field of play. Messrs R. J. Smith and. S. K. Siddells (President and Sleereta.ry respectively of the Bush Rugby Union) were present. Mr Smith presented the Junior Championship Cup and Shield and also the 7-a-side Cup. Mr Smith and Mr. Siddells congratulated the team on its splendid performances this year, especially the juniors, which had an unbeaten record this season in the championship games. The captain of the juniors Air P Humphrey) was complimented upon leading liis team so ably. He received the cups and duly returned thanks. Air O. H. Wilton (President) returned thanks to all supporters of the club during; the season, special mention being made of the ladies for their generous catering for the various matches. Mr Wilton also thanked car-owners for transport. Mr Sidde'lls took the opportunity of thanking the club for entering two teams in. the competition. There were not many clubs which did this, and he thought Ball a nee showed n good example. The secretarial, duties for the function were off icientl v carried out hv Mr I. W. Bremner. The club expresses its thanks to Mr East and Mr E. T. Russell, who donated prizes for the Monte Carlo waltz.
