HOW LONG?

REFUSED THE RIGHT TO WORK

Electric Telegraph—Press Association PALMERSTON N., July 7. “Fancy in such a country as this, men wanting work and being refused the right to work,’’ said the Mayor, Mr A. E. Marisford, in addressing a gathering of citizen's at Takaro. “Boys and girls leaving our primary and secondary schools and universities, after spending years on education, are now being, refused the right to earn an honest living. Just how much longer do you think this sort of thing can go on? “To me the whole position, not only that of the people, but also of the Government, is a tragedy without parallel. It cannot go on much longer, and looks as if the Government is waiting for something to turn up. That being so, our chances of deliverance are small and the conference from which we expected so much appears to be failing:, but we should all pray that the Divine -Creator mav lead them out of the wilderness.”
