VILLAGES SWEPT AWAY

CLOUDBURSTS IN COLORADO. TWENTY LIVES LOST. (Received 11. 5 a.m.) United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. VANCOUVER, July 9. Twenty were drowned and damage of a million dollars was caused when cloudbursts devastated the towns of Odledale and Alorrison in Colorado. A twenty-foot wall of water rushed down Bear Creek Canyon and swept seven motor-ears, loaded with vacationists, over the banks.

Half of Alorrison was wiped out and not a single house was left at Starbuck Village. A similar flood in 1896 took 28 lives.
