The "Wimbledon tournament, as has been usual for several years, had fine weather throughout," and closed on Saturday with the best ladies’ final seen for years, when Mrs Helen "Wills-Moody (U.S.A.i defeated Miss Round (England), 6—4, 6—-8, 6—3. The King and Queen of Iraq were present, and every seat at the centre court was occupied when Miss Round deservedly won the long middle set from Airs Moody. This is the first time the incomparable Helen has lost a set to anybody- for several years, but to-day she had fight all the way to retain the title. It was an exciting hard-hitting match throughout. Miss round showing unexpected ability both in severity .and placing. APPLAUSE FOR CRAWFORD. LONDON, Julv 8. Scrivener, writing in the ‘-Morning Post,” say's that none who saw :t will forget the A\ imbledon final. Crawford’s victory was a veritable triumph of court craft. Jhe Times” says that Crawford on each visit has shown himself a more accomplished player than before. He was superior" to Vines in production of strokes and the calmness with which he play-ed them. FRENCHMEN WIN DOUBLES. MIXED TO GERMANS. LONDON, July 8. The following are the concluding results of the Wimbledon tennis championship tournament: MEN’S DOUBLES. Semi-final: Satoh and Nunoi (Japan) defeated von Cramm and Nournev (Germany), 7—5, 3—6, 6—4, 6—l. Final -. Borotra and Brugnon defeated Nunoi and Satoh, 4—6, 6—3, 6—3, 7—5. MIXED DOUBLES. Quarter-final : Farouliarson (South Africa.) and Miss Heeley (Britain) defeated Miki (Japan) and Miss D. Round, lO—B, 6—3. Semi-final: Yon Cramm and Fraulein JKrahwinkel (Germany! defeated Kingsley and Airs Godfree (Britain), 6-—3, B—6; Farquharson and Aliss Heeley beat Borotra (France) and Xmthall (Britain), B—6, Final: Von Cramm and Fraulein TCrahwinkel defeated Farquharson and Aliss Heeley, 7—5, B—6. WOMEN'S DOUBLES. Semi-final : Allle. Alatliieu (France) and Aliss Ryan (TJ.S.A.) defeated Mrs Pittman and Miss Ridlev (Britain), C—l, 4—C, 6—4. Final: Allle. Mathieu and Aliss Ryan defeated Missels James and Yorke, 6—2, 6—4.
