PAHIATUA COUNTY COUNCIL.

OVERSEER’S REPORT. The overseer (Mr S. -Macrae) reported as follows at to-day’s monthly meeting of the Pahiatua County Council: The County teams have been employed carting metal to the crusher and boulders for the erection of the weir at the Pahiatua Railway Bridge have also been delivered. The trucks have been engaged carrying out repairs on the various highways and also on the Mangatainoka township loads. The graders have been constantly employed grading where necessary and raking in loose metal. The Albion truck (No. 3) "is at present undergoing conversion from solid tyres to pneumatic tyres. HIGHWAYS. No. 15 Wellington—Napier: Metalling lias been carried out and grading lias been attended to. Widening m the Konini Gorge is proceeding with labour under the No. 5 Scheme No. 61 Pahiatua —Pongaroa: Metal repairs have been attended to, water-tables have been cleaned and all loose metal has been raked in. No. 84 Pahiatua—Railway Station : A light coat of crushed shingle has been delivered and spread. No. 342 Pahiatua—Mangatoro: Water-tables have been cleaned and slips have been removed. No. 442: Mangaone—Pahiatua: Water-tables have been cleaned and metal has been raked in. A large box culvert which had collapsed has been replaced with a line or 36-inch pipes. ROADS. Railway Station—Gorge Bridge: Metal repairs have been carried out and slips have been removed. Portions of this road have been graded. Mangahao Valley; Water-tables have been cleaned and grading has been carried out. Metal is at present being quarried for necessary repairs. Ballance Township: Shoulders have been trimmed and loose metal has been raked in. P ilmerston Track—Ballance Gorge: Water-tables have been cleaned and slips have been removed. The section of this road which was badly damaged by wood carters is being repaired by the parties concerned. Makonxako—Tutaekjara: Watertabling has been carried out and shoulders have been trimmed. The Rexdale bridge had to* be strengthened to allow the Public Works Department to transport a transformer. River protection at the Tutaekara bridge has been carried out Kopikopiko—Nae Nae : Watertables have been cleaned and a line of nine-inch pipes has been laid. Another 12-inch culvert will be laid at an earlv date. Xikau—Gardner’s Ford: Shoulders have been trimmed and drains have been opened. Scarborough—Bridge: Grading has been carried and metal 'repairs will be proceeded with in the course of a few days. River protection is in progress. Mangamaire—Pukewliai: Metal has been raked in and surface patching has been done. Ridge Central; Water-tables have been cleaned and grading has been completed. Rock—Makakahi: Slips have been removed and general surface work has been attended to. Konini Township: All roads have been graded. Mangaramarama—Tirammea North : Metal patching has been carried out and water-tables have been cleaned. Mangatainoka Township: All roads have been metalled. Hnawliata: Metal lias been raked in and water-tabling has been attended to. Bridge decking has been repaired. Tiranmea North : A coat of crushed shingle lias been spread and all loose shingle has been raked in. Oete—Xgaturi : Grading lia's been completed and metal repairs will bte carried out with a truck, which is at present operating in this locality. Kohinui— Towai : Water-tables have been cleaned and slips have been removed. The grader will be employed on this road during the present month. Woodville—Aohangn : Slips have been removed and water-tabling has been carried out. Necessary surface repairs will be carried out at an early date. Makuri Township: General surface work has been attended to. Metal repairs necessary will* be attended to. Ngnturi Township: Slips have been removed and water-tables have been cleaned. Considerable damage has been caused here on account of firewood being hauled on a sledge. Pori—Kaitawa Ridge: Slips hav*e been removed and water-tables have been cleaned. A line of nine-inch pipes is necessary to replace an old box culvert. Tiraumea Valley: Road has been graded throughout and general surface work 1 as been attended to. Kaitawa Township: Slips have been removed and shoulder* have been trimmed.
