FIRE AT NEW PLYMOUTH.
Electric Telegraph—Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH, July 3. Fire totally destroyed a sixroomed house on the Huatoki Road, owned and occupied by Mr L. F. Haylock. The outbreak was discovered about 12.45 yesterday morning, but the flames made such rapid progress that nothing could be done except attend to the rescue of two small children and remove some bedding and clothing. A boy, aged 10, had a narrow escape from suffocation, for he was already dazed by the smoke when awakened by his father.
