MINIATURE RIFLES

BUSH BEAT WAIRARAPA. The return representative shooting match between the Wairarapa and Bush Miniature Rifle Associations was fired at Hukanui on Saturday night last. Bush journeyed to Carterton in June and were beaten but on Saturday they turned tlie tables and won by a margin of 20 points. Conditions were ideal and there were 20 on each side. The standard of shooting was very good as fliers were several nearly up to the possible of one hundred. Tlie management of the competition was in tlie hands of Mr C. R. Eddie, tlie Bush secretary, and was got off in good style, there being no waiting between the turns of each squad of four shooters. Before starting Air Farrow, tlie president oi the Bush Association, formally welcomed the visitors and hoped that they would have an enjoyable evening. After the shoot, at about 10.30 o’clock, the Bush team, assisted by some of the local ladies, handed round a very dainty supper which was done full justice to. Mr -Johnston, the president of the visiting Association, took the opportunity of thanking Hush lor the very capable way in which the details had been arranged for the match, and he also congratulated the local team on its win. He hoped the fixture would be an annual one. Air R. Farrow returned thunks on behalf of his team and said they were pleased to have recorded a win and make the issue ail square.
