ALFREDTON

A highly successful and most enjoyable social and dance was held in the Alfredton Hall in aid of St. Aiden’s Church funds. There was a large crowd present of local people and visitors front Aliasterton, Eketahuna and Pahiatua, while other surrounding districts were well represented. Air Boh Kebbell acted as M.C., and excellent music for dancing was supplied by a gramophone with seven loud speakers placed at intervals round the walls. Aliss Beresford and Airs F. C. Lecis played the extras. A delicious home-made supjier was served, and later soup was handed round. Aluch appreciated vocal solos were contributed by Aliss Ruth Perry (Masterton), who has an outstandingly 7 beautiful voice, and she was encored again and again. Airs GuvLewis and Airs Campbell (Pongaroa) also sang, and they were heartily encored. The accompanistes were Alas F. G. Lewis and Aliss Beresford.

Three raffles were held during tlie evening and these resulted: Chocolates (first prize) Air Beg. Kebbell, bed-jacket (second prize) Airs Reg. Kebbell; turkey (live), Air Alitchell; rooster. Air Bob Hall. The sum of £l9 10s was taken at the door.
