LAUSANNE PARLEYS

POSSIBILITY OF DEADLOCK BESS FRIENDLY TONE. United Press Assn.— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LAUSANNE, June 28. A remark made by Al. Herriot, the French Premier, to German journalists: “Your Ministers are less friendly than they were two days ago,” sums up the situation at the Reparations Conference. It js one requiring all Air Ramsay AlacDonald’s tact if the deadlock is to be removed. The delegates generally are doubtful whether the German economic proposals are now sufficiently weighty to influence French opinion. AI. Herriot’s visit to Paris undoubtedly stiffened his .attitude, as Dr. \ 7 ori Papen’s visit to Berlin, combined with Italy’s support, is making Germany less conciliatory. Germany is not yielding an inch over reparations. Sire demands complete cancellation as the only means of world recovery. A statement read by the Finance Minister, Count Krosigk, at a meeting of the French and German delegations, stressed the exhaustion of Germany’s resources.

He disputed the argument that cancellation would enable Germany to compete more efficiently, and expressed a readiness to participate in any scheme of European reconstruction.

Signor Grand i has communicated with Air AlacDonald approving the policy of the clean slate and stating that Italy had received less reparations than any nation. Cancellation must be applied to all with the consent of all.
