NATIVES OR CROCODILES

LOST GERMAN FLIERS WERE THEY EATEN ? (Received 10.30 a.m.) United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. PERTH, This Day. The pilot Sutcliffe wlic searched for the lost German fliers for three days, has returned to Perth. He expressed little hope of the men being found alive. The theory that they were killed and eaten bv blacks, however, is opposed by Neville, Chief Protector of the aborogines, who says there has never been even a suspicion of white men being eaten by blacks. “I do not believe for a moment that they have been eaten and doubt very much if they were killed'.” Sutcliffe said the gorges around the district are swarming with crocodiles. The Native reports are all definite that only two men landed, and these were killed'.
