“ MR. AND MRS. WINSTONE ”
JOHN MORTON AND FLORENCE COOPER. The correct names < i “Mr and Mrs Wiiistone,” who were arrested at the Terminus l.otel, New Plymouth, on Saturday last and later remanded to Wellington on charges in connection with tiie Miramar hold-ups, are John Morton and Florence Jane Cooper. Both had lived in Wanganui for some time (states the Chronicle), Mrs Cooper for seven years. Morton u as employed for a period bv a wood contractor on St. John’s hill.
Both left Wanganui on the Thursday before the incident at Wellington. and returned on last Tuesday week. They stayed at one of the leading hotels, the names being entered as Mr and Mrs Wiiistone. On Monday last Detective Walsh went to New Plymouth, and as a result of that visit the woman, Cooper, will appear at the Wnugan i Magistrate’s court in connection with the St. John’s hill affair, when a wood contractor. Clifford Organ, was shot in the leg and taken to hospital.
