Appearing at the Christchurch session of the ’Supreme Court on twelve charges of failure to account for money paid on behalf of the firm. Robert John Alunro, senior partner in the firm of Alunro and Hickinbottom, tailors, pleaded not guilty.

Tlie jury found that Alunro had received all tlie moneys mentioned in the charges, but that owing to the very lax methods oi business pertaining to the partnership on both sides, it was forced to return a verdict of not guilty of theft. Hi# Honour said that this constituted a verdict of not guilty on ad counts and the prisoner was discharged.
