FAMILY OF SEVEN WIPED OUT
SHOT IN THE TEMPLE FATHER’S DREADFTJLL DEED. United Press Assn—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. PERTH, August 21. A whole family of seven was wiped out at Carlisle, a suburb of Perth, during the night. The victims are Roderick Davies, aged 36, a carpenter, his wife, aged 35, and the children, comprising two daughters aged 13 and 10, and three sons, aged 12, 6, and five months. All were shot in the temple, apparently in bed. The husband was in a sitting posture in an easy chair with a bullet wound in his head and his wrist slashed with a razor.
A note in the husband’s handwriting was tacked to the front door, inviting a neighbour to go inside. The neighbour did so, and, was confronted by a shocking spectacle.
The police have ascertained that tlie husband was recently meloncholy owing to prolonged unemployment and was in distress. Apparently he shot his wife and the children and then committed suicide.
