DEPARTING DRUID

THE QUARTERLY AIEETING

t The quarterly meeting of the U.A.O.D. was held last evening in the Foresters’ Lodgerooni. Bro. T. Moriartv, A.D., presided over a large attendance. After correspondence and accounts were dealt

with, very interesting information was given by Past District President, Bro. H. Fisher, of the workings, etc., of the Royal Arch Chapter (of which, lie is a member). Supper was provided Tlie important event then took place and in a happy manner Past District President Bro. G. G. Taylor presented P.D.P. Bro. O. R. AleKenzie with a pipe and pouch as a small token of the Lodge’s esteem, and expressed sincere regret at his leaving the district for Wanganui. The toast was drunk in the usual hearty manner and the singing of “For He’s A Jolly Good Fellow” in Druidic fashion carried out with great vigour. Several officers and brothers then paid tribute to the sterling qualities and keen interest that had been always shown by their Worthy Brother during bis long connection with tlie Order, especially when he was District President.

After the brethren liad spoken P.D.P. Bro. AleKenzie rose to respond amidst considerable enthusiasm. He feelingly responded and mentioned that what services he bad rendered were carried out as liis duty demanded, and he expressed hopes that Paliiatua Lodge No. 25 would continue to carry ou the principles of Drnidism in greater degree. In conclusion, he gave a welcome to any Brother Druid who would be likely to be visiting AVanganui, and thanked them very much for their handsome present. “Auld Lang Syne” terminated one of tlie most sociable evenings ever spent in Paliiatua.
