NGATURI SCHOOL SPORTS.

SUCCESSFUL GATHERING

The Ngaturi School picnic was held in the domain on Friday m ideal weather. The popular teacher, Miss M. Faulkener, acted as handicapper. There were some very close finishes. Mr H. Cotter acted as starter. There Mas a large attendance of parents and friends. An excellent spread was provided and, with nut scrambles and bags of sweets, a very pleasant day was spent. Every child received a prize. Following are the results of the races: Girls’ race: Daisy- arid May Dick, Laura Cotter and Elsie Ammundsen all tied for first place. Boys’ race: N. Chisnell and D. Chisnell, Frank Ammundsen all tied tor first place. Children’s race: Shirley Ammundsen I, John Miller 2, Hillarv Miller 3. Girls’ and boys’ three-legged race: May Dick and Laura Cotter I. DaisyDick and Rosie P'erqev 2, M. Chisnell and Donald Dick 3. Girls’ skipping race: Rosie Piereey 1, Helen Heckler 2, Elsie Ammundsen 3. Boys’ sack race: Donald Dick 1, Nt. Chisnell 2, Bill Heckler 3. Girls’ saak race: May Dick 1, Daisy Dick 2, Rosie Piereey and Helen Heckler 3. Boys’ potato race: O. Chisnell 1, M. Chisnell 2, Donald Dick 3. Girls’ potato race: Laura Cotter 1, Elsie Ammundsen 2, May Dick 3. Relay race: M. ChisneiPs team 1. Hop. step and jump (boy-s) : O. Chisnell 1, Frank Ammundsen and M. Chisnell 2. Hop, step and jump (girls) : Laura Cotter 1, Elsie Ammundsen 2, Helen Heckler 3. Pole jump: Daisy Dick (6ft. oin.) 1, O. Chisnell 2, M. Chisnell 3. High jump (girls): Helen Heckler. Laura Cotter and Daisy Dick all tied for first place (4ft. lin.). Boys high jump: Donald Dick and O. Chisnell tied at 3ft. lOin. Thread the needle race for boys: M. Chisnell 1. Bill Heckler 2, Frank Ammundsen 3. Girls’ thread the needle race: Rosie Piereey 1, Laura Cotter 2, Daisy Dick 3. Men’s pole pimp: Pat Herbert. Duncan Morison, Jack Dick and Frank Anderson all cleared at 10ft. 4£in.
