PERSONAL ITEAIS. (From Our Own Cbrrespondent). PONGAROA, This Day. Alessrs A. R. Carley and -S. F. Herbert have been appointed to the Commission of the Peace.* Mr F. Herbert, of Poll garoa, returned to New Zealand on Tuesday last after having spent about 12 months in England. The Pongaroa Horse Sports Club will hold their annual fixture on March 25th, and the proceeds will he devoted to the earthquake relief fund. Air N. L. Anderson, of the local Post Office staff, is spending bis annual leave in the South Island. DENTAI. CLINIC. Ihe local dental clinic committee have been advised by the Department of Dental Hygiene that the temporary clinic acommodation in Pongaroa does not meet with the requirements of the Department and that steps will have to be taken immediately to erect a “C” type clinic in accordance with the Department’s requirements: Treatment has in the past been carried out in temporary quarters pending the erection of a suitable clinic but owing to the difficulty in raising the necessary funds to build the clinic (about £6O represents this district’s share of the cost) no steps have been taken in connection with the erection of a new clinic. The Department now advises, however, that the services of the nurse will be removed unless the erection of a “C” type clinic is proceeded with immediately. An urgent appeal for funds is at present being made by the committee.
