ACTIVITY AT K AIT AW A. Tlie monthly meeting of the Kaitawa Women’s Institute was held on Thursday. Owing to the absence of the president, Mrs M. Stevenson, Mrs W. S. Lett presided. At the commencement of the meeting all present stood in silence for one minute in respect for the recent earthquake victims. lu the usual business discussion, it was decided to send a parcel of clothing to Mrs Paterson for the earthquake sufferers within the next fortnight, each member contributing towards same. During the afternoon Mrs Green gave an interesting floral demonstration. which was greatly appreciated by all. Afterwards a memory competition was held. The prize, which was donated by Mrs "Lett, was won by Miss Haywood. A dainty afternoon tea was then handed round by the hostesses, Mesdames Miers and Burgess, assisted by Miss Grant and Miss Miers. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Green. The meeting was brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem.
