This beats by four the New Zealand Black Orpington record of 343 eggs for 50 weeks, and, it is claimed. also tops by three eggs the world’s heavy-breed record. The bird i-s the property of Mrs I) M. Waddell, of Tongaporutu. \Valtar::. and is named Tekawau Princess. . In addition to the standard weight eggs the. hen has produced three eggs with s-oft shells which are- not included in the test. The lien is being kept in the competition pen for another two weeks in an attempt to lower the further record of 354 eggsi for 52 weeks. She has 14 days in which to produce the required eight eggs.
