I>i s—tory cf the country, but lie brings to liis high office an expert knowledge of many of the problems which are confronting 1 armors to-day. Lc\r prices for primary products is causing the man on the land considerable concern, us to what the. future might hold. More than ever, it is being forced upon .settlors, with their many immediate difficulties, that farming to be successful, must he carried out on scientific lines. Haphazard methods must go by the board, and a watchful eye must be kept upon relative returns and expenditure. It must be a source of encouragement to farmers that the head of the Executive in New Zealand i,s one who possesses a practical knowledge of agriculture. Lord Bledisloe has made a close study of its problems not merely in England, hut m Canada, the United States, and elsewhere. He has a knowledge far greater than the ordinary farmer coulu hope to acquire, and ho also has an optimistic outlook. Lord Bledisloe believes that the problems of the farmer are iho problems of the entire community. and that there should be coordination among all classes. He has occupied in England, important public offices in relation to agriculture, and the new Governor-General will use every endeavour to see that Now Zealand benefits from lii.s ripe experience, hi.; wide knowledge, and Iris wise counsel. The l response to so inspiring a leadership, should he immediate and enthusiastic, and. a large measure of benefit .should be the result.
