HELEN WILLS WINS AGAIN
United Press Assn—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. NEW YORK, August 24. At Forest Hills, Miss Helen Wills won the national women’s championship, defeating Mrs Watson (England), 6—4, 6—2. The gallery barracked for Mrs Watson and cheered loudly her valiant but ineffective battle. In the doubles semi-final, which was stopped on Friday on account of rain, Mesdames Mitchell and Watson defeated Misses Betty Nuthall and Helen Jacobs, 11 —9, 6—3, C—-4. In the final, Mesdames Watson and Mitchell defeated Mesdames Shepherd Barron and Covell, 2 —6, 6—3, 6—4. At Newport, Tilden defeated Lott, 6 —2, 3—6, 6—4, 5—7, 6—3 in the final. SCOTTISH CHAMPIONSHIPS. LONDON, August 24. At the Scottish hard court tennis championships, in the women’s si ogles final, Mrs A. Robertson (Dunfermline), formerly Miss Esna Boyd, of Melbourne, defeated Miss Jean Rankine (Glasgow), 4—6, 6 —l, 6—3. QUEENSLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS BRISBANE, August 24. In the State tennis championships, Crawford (New South Wales) won the singles title, beating Moon (Queensland), 6 —l. B—6, 6 —l. In the women’s singles, Miss Molesworth beat Miss Hood, 6—3, o—l.
