FIREWORKS FATALITIES

Seven children were killed as the result ot accidents arising from the custom in the Southern States of celebrating Christmas with fireworks. Four youngsters lost their lives at Hazard, Kentucky when a firecracker tossed in fun landed in a can of blasting powder*. There was an explosion, and a file in which the mother of two cuF the youngsters was also badly burned,. Three children at Carterville, Georgia, earning Christinas money as temporary clerks in a fireworks store wore burned to death when a Roman c andle lit by a customer caused a fire and explosion. A fourth person. a young woman of eighteen, was badly burned probably fatally.
HOLIDAY SPIRIT IN LONDON
LONDON, December 25
London celebrated the holiday with the usual spirit, despite, the drizzling rail!.
On Christmas Eve many people crowded into Piccadilly and the Strand and tlie night clubs did a rushing business. The stores remained open especial!y late, for tlie benefit of those who had. left their purchases until the last minute in view of the seriousness of the King’s illness.
