LEGAL FIRM’S FAILURE.
MONEY LOANED RECOVERED. Electric Teiegrapn—Press Association AUCKLAND, January IS. An echo of the failure of the Auckland legal firm of Hammond and Cracknel! was heard in the Magistrate’s Court to-day, when the Official Assignee in bankruptcy, as administrator of the estate of Hammond and Cracknel! (Mr Rudd) sued the New Zealand Insurance Company, as trustees in the estate of the late Stapleton Cotton Caulton (Mr R. N. White), to recover £6O alleged to have been lent by the firm of Hammond and Cracknell to Air Caulton. The sum of £3O had been repaid, and plaintiff claimed the balance, with interest to date. Plaintiff reduced the claim by £1 125., which had also been paid, and judgment was given for plaintiff for £4B 16s. 10d., with Court costs.
