DE-NATURED ALCOHOL.
CAUSES THREE THOUSAND DEATHS POISON NOT REMOVED. (Received 10,30 a.m.) Electric Telegraph—Press Association WASHINGTON, This Day. National attention continues focussed on the three thousand deaths from the Government poisoned denatured alcohol during the recent holiday season. Senator Mellon has urged the Government to use all possible S]>eed to remove tlie poison ingredients from the present supplies. The American Chemical Society requested its fifteen thousand members for suggestions for a new non-pnison-ous de-naturant. Mr Andrews announced it was safe to assume that most of these holiday deaths were caused from officially poisoned denatured alcohol from which bootleggers thought they had removed the poison, but bad failed.
