Electric Telegraph—l’r(»s> association LONDON I i With apt ritual the King’s Empire Christmas pudding began its brief career to-day on The steps of the Colonial Institute. The Earl of Meath, generously whiskered, made a jolly Father Christmas, while representatives of the Dominions looked on at the proieedings in mystification. Then it was brightly decided to send right unintroduced Dominion ingredients on tour to the Overseas League’s headquarters, where Australian currants could meet African raisins—an atmosphere of Empire unity; hence currants, raisins, airpies, flour, and rum travelled thither under offi ial guardianship. In the beautiful club garden Otnndian flour was solemnly emptied into a pudding bowl. South African raisius followed, and then sultanas and Australian currants went to their doom, after which a white-coated chef vigorously stirred the mess. The stirring was taken by turns by the Earl of Meath and the Dominiou representatives until each party in the pudding became so uncommonly friendly that they decided to stand by each other until death —namely, Christmas Day. The Earl ’of Meath hoped that the King's pudding would prove an example to the Empire.
