THE AVONDALE MEETING DEAD HEAT IN GUINEAS. Electric Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, Last Night. The Avondale Jockey Club’s spring meeting concluded at Ellerslie today in fine weather. There was a large attendance. The totalisator handled £63,453 10s, making a grand total of £136,388 10s for the meeting, as compared with last year’s figures, when the Avondale Club raced on its own ground, this represents an increase of £36,320. Kingsland Hurdle Race, 1| miles: 1 Glenotus 1,2 Lucullent 2, 5 Flowing Bowl 3. Won by a neck, five lengths between second and third. Time 3.16 f. Nursery Handicap, 5 furlongs: 2 Laughing Prince 1, 1 Chelone 2, 4 Ti Tree 3. Won by a head, a neck between second and third. Time 1.1.
Mount Albert Welter, 6 furlongs: First division: 20 Arc-heno 1, 13 Ohinemuri 2, 18 Town Guard 3. Won by half a neck, a neck between second and third. Time 1.14.
Second division: 4 Newbury 1, 14 Killute *, 8 King Emerald , 5 Ballymoy II 3. * Dead heat. Won by a neck. Time 1.15.
Plumpton Handicap, 1 \ miles:’ 1 Te Monanui 1, 7 Desert Glow 2, 6 Barometer 3. Won by three-quarters of a length each way. Time 2.7. Avondale Guineas, 1 mile: 1 Lysander (L. Pine) *, 2 Commendation (Beale) *, 5 Phaola 3. *Dead heat. Also started: 3 Chamour, 4 Tea Bell, 6 King Arch, 7 Clarus. Lysander made the pace. Commendation challenged at the distance, and they flashed past the post level. Time 1.37.
President’s Handicap, 6 furlongs: 2 Pavo 1, 4 King Merv 2, 5 Serang 3. Won by a length each way. Time 1.13 2-5.
New Lynn Handicap, 1 mile: 2 Antrim Ptoy 1, 14 Ngurara 2, 4 Nucleus 3. Won by a length and a half, a length between second and third. Time 1.40.
Nihotapu Welter 7 furlongs: 1 Gala Day 1, 5 Sir Archie 2, 11 Gold Fern 3. Won by a neck, three parts of a length between second and third. Time 1.27.
