The Fire Board’s estimates for the first year of its existence to be provided jointly by the City Council, fire insurance companies, and Government total £28,787. This figure is a great deal larger than any annual grant the Council has ever been called upon to pay, but £5200 is the first annual payment to the city for the purchase by the board of the properties and plant, payment for which has been, arranged over a period ot 26 years. The board also is dispensing with the obsolete plant and acquiring a. new engine, and a quantity of hose.
