SUMMER TIME BILL
COUNTIES’ CONFERENCE OPPOSED. The fate of Mr Sklev’s Summer Time Bill in the Legislative Council is still uncertain, says the Times. Tile feeling in favour of the bill in Hie country is undoubtedly growing, but there is still a good deal of opposition to the enforcement of the principle. In the Legislative Council the bill will probably be read pro forma, and referred to a committee that will hear .evidence. The crucial stage might not be reached .or about a fortnight. A card has been pricked, but one or two votes are doubtful and some members might not vote. A motion to send a delegation to the Legislative Council to oppose the'* Daylight Saving Bill was carried at the conference of the New Zealand Counties’ Association yesterday. A deputation is to wait upon the Le>’-i:Jntive Council to-day.
