A stand that is creating a great deal of interest at the tVellii-gton Winter Show is that of the Wairara--1-.; Fanners’ Co-op. Association Ltd. The display, which is well arranged, consists of grain, farm roots, seeds—mainly the product ot the W aiiai^pa fertilisers and many other lines ot special interest to the farming community. The farmers from this district when visiting the show are eoi<l a, 11 y invited to inspect this exhibit.*

Fear lias been expressed on occasions that the Government contemplated a, certain move regarding the halt-holiday for shops. Yesterday Hon. G. J. Anderson, Minister of Labour, stated that there was no intention whatever <_>f altering the present system of deciding about the half-holiday. There would he some amendments to the Shops and Offices Hill this session, and the Hon. gentleman would see those proposals when the Bill came down, but he could assure them that there was no intention of making any alteration in regard to the half holiday.

On© of the most interesting displays in the sheep dog trials at the Wellington Winter Show, and certainly the most amusing, was Mr J. O. MacDonald’s ‘Mac,’ which ‘yarded a White Leghorn rooster in a .kerosene case. Let loose in the midst of a vast and terrifying isolation of empty sward with a chattering crowd all round, and menaced by a stalking dog with a, decidedly hypnotic eye, the rooster was at first at a loss, but then made a wild dash for freedom. Turned again and again by the dog, and menaced by stealthy crouching and canine perambulations it could not fathom, the bird was headed off repeatedly, finally sighted tlie refuge of the case, and was surely edged towards it. A final dash frustrated, jt stepped with drooping feathers into the case to a round of applause and laughter from the crowd. A duck was similarly put in the box in the .afternoon.
