RECENT ACTIVITIES COMM UNITY LIGHTING. The monthly meeting of tlie Council of the Pahiatua Chamber or Commerce was held last evening. There were present : Messrs P. Tnlloch (president), L. T. Herbert, J. J. Boa gey, \\. H. March, K. I*. Badger, and the secretary, Mr S. K. Siddells. TESTING AND CURLING COWS. The Council of the New Zealand Associated Chambers of Commerce wrote asking the Pahiatua Chantber to support the foil--uing resolution carried by tlie Auckland Chamber of Commerce: — “That this Chamber considers that the testing and systematic culling of dairy cows are the only means by which regular and assured progress can be made*. That is a work of National importance on which largely depends the future prosperity of the burying industry and the welfare oi the Dominion. It heartily supports the request of the New Zealand Herd Testing A’so iation of the Waikato for a subsidy from the Government to enable the work of group herd testing to be carried on efficiently and as expeditiously as possible.” It was agreed to heartily support the motion.
