A resolution was passed "that this j great demonstration by loyal subjects of the Crown regards with ser- ! ions apprehension and regret the announcement that the King and Queen of England are to visit the Pope, and respectfully and dutifully submits that as this will he a source of great grief to millions of Tlieir Majesties’ devoted subjects, the visit should be abandoned.” The resolution apeals to the Prime Minister to submit to the King the inadvisability* of the visit, and calls upon the Government to immediately withdraw the British envoy to the Vatican, seeing that diplomatic relations with the Pope are an infringement of the constitution, and a grave menace to the welfare ol this Protestant kingdom.
