A leader in the Daily Mail says the postponement of German reparation instalments will cause a heavy deficit in the British budget. Modifications may result in a, benefit to British trade, but experts must decide whether the taxpayers’ loss in one direction will he made up by increased revenue receipts in another. The Pall Mail Gazette, usually regarded as representing .the* Premier’s viewpoint, states that Mr Lloyd George is preparing to take a lead in proposing a new financial policy, including the entire revision of the reparations provisions of the Treaty of Versailles in order to re-establish the W orld’s markets, including Germany. Ife hopes when at Washington to take up the whole question of the world’s indebtedness.
